Cybersecurity Engineer

As a Cyber Security Engineer your primary responsibility will be to ensure the implementation of robust security solutions that align with the company's Cyber Safety Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day cybersecurity operations, including information security, threat management, risk monitoring, and reporting.
  • Conduct assessments and respond to security incidents, while maintaining anti-malware, email security, web security, and whitelisting solutions.
  • Provide expert information security consultation to the broader business units, supporting multiple projects with security and architecture assessments to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of the organisation’s cybersecurity maturity, particularly in alignment with the ASD Essential 8 and the Australian Energy Sector Cyber Security Framework (AESCSF).
  • Lead the implementation and enhancement of key cybersecurity initiatives, including learning and phishing testing/training platforms, application whitelisting, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), managed Security Operations Center (SOC)/Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and vulnerability management.
  • Lead a project to enhance the vulnerability management program, focusing on improving reporting capabilities, visibility, responsiveness, and remediation times across the enterprise, including Operational Technology (OT) networks.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in cybersecurity, particularly in leading security operations and implementing security solutions across diverse IT environments, including cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, such as ASD Essential 8 and AESCSF.
  • Experience in threat management, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Proficiency in security tools and technologies, including anti-malware, DLP, SOC/SIEM, and application whitelisting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to provide expert consultation and manage security projects.

Location:
This role is based in Australia, with potential flexibility in working arrangements.

Must be based in Australia with full working rights.
